What is Nipple Piercing?

The procedure involves a horizontal (usually) piercing of the breast itself base of the nipple. A professional piercer never pierces the areola itself (areola), but aims at the point where the nipple meets the areola.

Anatomy and flat or inverted nipples:
This piercing is an absolute phenomenon! Many people believe that flat or inverted (hidden) nipples disqualify them from the procedure. It's quite the opposite! Nipple Piercing is very often used as an almost corrective procedure - a precise piercing "pulls" the concave nipple out, preventing it from hiding. However, this requires a visit to a very experienced, qualified piercer.

Does nipple piercing hurt?

Papillae are a zone extremely densely packed with nerve endings. It cannot be denied that the sting in this place is felt.

Pain is a very individual matter, but it is most often assessed as: 6 to 8 on a 10-point scale.
Good news? It literally goes on half a second. You will feel a sharp burning sensation and pressure that disappears almost immediately after you put the jewelry on. If you decide to pierce both nipples at one visit, you must know that the second piercing usually hurts a bit more because the level of adrenaline in the body begins to decline.

Intimacy and comfort: A professional piercing studio always cares about your privacy. The procedure is performed in a closed office, in an atmosphere of full respect and trust.

Healing time and care for nipple piercing

The tissue in this place is delicate, and due to wearing clothes, constant friction and sweat, healing requires iron discipline and simply... time.

  • Flat chests (most often men): from 4 to 6 months.
  • Larger breasts (women and people with developed tissue): from 6 to 12 months, and sometimes even longer (due to greater breast mobility and underwear pressure).

Top Rules for Fresh Nipple Piercings:

  1. Suitable underwear: During the first weeks, avoid bras with hard underwires, especially bras laces (a lace that gets caught on an earring is a recipe for tears!). Cotton sports bras work best as they stabilize the breast without crushing it, or in the case of smaller breasts, soft tops. Change them to clean ones every day!
  2. Be careful in the shower: Throw away sponges and mesh washcloths from the bathroom. Wash only with your own hands.
  3. Prohibition of contact with saliva: Your partner's saliva is the fastest way to a catastrophic infection. Until complete healing, it is strictly forbidden to play with earrings during intercourse.
  4. Sleeping on your stomach: You need to change your position for a few months. Sleeping on your chest will simply be painful and distort the healing wound canal.

How to care for a fresh piercing? (Principles of care)

  1. Don't touch: Avoid touching the earring with dirty hands and refrain from "spinning" it.
  2. Cleanse regularly: Wash the piercing site 2-3 times a day with sterile saline solution.
  3. Avoid chemicals: Avoid using hydrogen peroxide, alcohol or antibiotic ointment. They may irritate the wound and delay healing.
  4. Be careful with your hair and clothes: Make sure that shampoo or conditioner does not remain on the ear after bathing. Be careful when putting on sweaters!

What jewelry for nipple piercing?

In such a sensitive and blood-supplied place, the use of poor-quality metals with an admixture of nickel will immediately cause a painful rash and an allergic reaction. W Piercing Planet we care about your comfort from day one.

During healing:

The piercer only assumes Straight Barbell.

  • No starting wheels: The wheels would constantly rotate and catch on clothes, which would provoke the formation of painful granulation tissue and extend the healing period to several months.
  • Material: Only certified Surgical Titanium (G23).
  • Rod Thickness: 1.6mm. This is an absolute standard. A thinner barbell (e.g. 1.2 mm) would act like a fishing line and could gradually "cut" the breast tissue (migration).
  • Starting Length: The bar must be a few millimeters longer (from 14 mm to 20 mm depending on the anatomy) because the nipples naturally change their size under the influence of temperature and swell greatly immediately after the procedure.

Downsize (Shortening the rod): After about 6-8 weeks, the barbell will start to stick out sideways and catch on your underwear. This is the moment when you need to return to the piercer to replace the rod with a perfectly fitting one. This is a guarantee of further, trouble-free healing!
