One of the biggest myths about the Septum is the belief that you are piercing the hard cartilage of the septum. This is a mistake!

A professional piercer looks for the so-called "sweet spot" - a soft, thin piece of connective tissue (skin) that is located just under the hard cartilage and above the lower edge of the nose.

• Anatomy matters: The size and availability of the "sweet spot" is different for each person.
• Crooked septum: If you have a deviated septum, an experienced piercer can determine the angle of the piercing so that the piercing visually evens out the asymmetry of the nose and does not emphasize it.

If the piercing is done correctly, in the thin "sweet spot", the Septum is one of the the least painful facial piercings! Pain is usually rated only at 2 to 3 on a 10-point scale.

However, the treatment looks very specific:

1. The piercer most often uses special forceps with a tube (so-called septum forceps) to capture the soft tissue and stabilize the nose.
2. The puncture itself takes a fraction of a second, but, as with Nostril, irritation of the trigeminal nerve in the nose will cause Tears will automatically flow from your eyes. It has nothing to do with pain, it is a pure physiological reflex!

The lack of interference with the cartilage means that Septum heals relatively quickly and without any problems, as long as you follow a few strict hygiene rules.

• Initial stage of healing (sensitivity to touch): from 4 to 8 weeks.
• Complete healing of the canal: from 3 to 4 months.

The most important rules for the septum:
